We need a plan for one hundred years

    • A plan that puts people first.
    • A plan for liveable communities that connect with the surrounding areas.
    • A plan that protects the history and culture of the generations of people who have lived, worked and played in the area.
    • A plan that provides a healthy and safe environment, affordable quality housing, jobs and education.
    • A plan that provides a place that is readily accessible.
    • A plan that preserves Port Melbourne as the maritime gateway to the World's most liveable city.

The Challenge

Is to create a dynamic liveable Fishermans Bend Urban Renewal Area (FBURA) that offers existing and future communities a world class environment in which to live, work and play.

The Planning Process

The current planning review should be allowed to complete it's task without being preempted by decisions that jeopardise the considered planning process.

The process needs to provide genuine community engagement, informing collaborative governance arrangements that oversee delivery of an agreed vision over the life of the Fishermans Bend Urban Renewal Area (FBURA).

SPURR wants land suitable for public use to be identified, reserved and turned into transport corridors, parks and sporting facilities, schools and other community infrastructure before any more applications are approved.

The Outcome

21st Century, World-Class Fisherman's Bend urban renewal area.

A community of people who are healthy, safe, mobile, productive and proud of their place in the World.
